Why don’t you go to Oman? You can get a better understanding of the country from its people and culture

You can’t really blame Omani people for not wanting to travel to Saudi Arabia or Qatar.

Oman is one of the only Arab countries without a formal embassy, and the only Muslim country that doesn’t have an official state news agency, Al Jazeera reports.

It’s a big drawcard in a region where the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain have all closed their embassies and pulled out of regional agreements.

But if you want to experience Oman’s rich culture and history, there are plenty of places to do it.

Here are some of our favorite places to go, and how to get there.

1.

Oman’s World Heritage Site is a real gem.

Omanis, like most Arab states, have a deep love for nature, and this is no exception.

The UNESCO World Heritage site in Al Ain is home to an incredible array of plants, animals, and birds, and even a cave that’s believed to be the oldest cave in the world.

In fact, some experts say it’s possible that there is more than just one cave in Oman, and it’s a beautiful place to visit.

2.

Omani restaurants have been around for centuries.

Some of the best-known are the restaurant at Al Ain that was once the residence of Sultan Qaboos II, and one in Al Khaleej that was a place for kings to entertain their guests.

But you don’t have to look far for a good meal.

Take a stroll along the waterfront, which is lined with restaurants serving everything from fish and chips to falafel and beef sandwiches.
